Product Description The irrepressible, ever-original Sandra Boynton introduces a brand new Boynton board book. Your Personal Penguin is a read-aloud, listen-along favorite for young children and the grown-ups who read to them. Fun to hold, the book tells the story of a slightly bewildered hippo and the loyal penguin who wants nothing more than to be his pal:
Now, lots of other penguins seem to be fine in a universe of nothing but ice. But if I could be yours, and you could be mine, Our cozy little world would be twice as nice. I want to be Your Personal Penguin.

Did you buy the stuffed Personal Penguin? October 20, 2006 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I'm not sure if many know this, but there is actually a stuffed penguin specially made to go with this book. Our local bookstore had it- what a cute gift set for a child! I must admit I've not been a huge Sandra Boynton fan in the past, but this was so cute (love the penguin) that I bought some as Christmas gifts and a set for myself too! I also downloaded Davy Jones from the Workman site, and I'm sure my nieces will love it too! Cheers!
I want a personal penguin, too! October 7, 2006 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
This book has a gentler charm than many of Boynton's titles, but it contains all of the warm humor and originality we've come to expect from her work. It's the story of an earnest little penguin longing to be best buddies with a skeptical hippo. The interaction of words and pictures makes the relationship between these two quirky animals unique, lively, and touching. I wish I had a Personal Penguin who adored me like that! Boynton also deftly translates this story's appeal to music, and the book includes a free download of "Your Personal Penguin" the song, delightfully performed by Davy Jones (of "The Monkees.") If you like a sweet tale with subtle wit, you'll love Your Personal Penguin!
Another Boynton Great -- the free song is a must October 21, 2006 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
This Boynton Book comes with access to a free mp3 of a companion song, sung by Davey Jones of the Monkees. The book (and the song) are simply about a penguin who wants to be best friends with a hippo. The illustrations are hilarious and the song is a lot of fun. The book as a stand alone doesn't seem all that interesting, but when you pair it with the song it is great! I have an 18 month-old who adores this book, but only when I sing it!!
My Granddaughter will love this!! November 17, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am not familiar with this authors books, but am always on the lookout for a new book for my granddaughter (11 months) She loves music so I new she would like this and she does. I did have a problem downloading the free music mp3. After you download the song you need to change the mpeg to mp3. Otherwise it thinks it is a movie clip and it is just the song. Always a fan of Davy, maybe I can start my granddaughter young!! khuffman
More to "Penguin" than meets the eye May 26, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Like But Not the Hippopotomus, there is more to I Want to be Your Personal Penguin than meets the eye at first. The book is about all of the traits of our closest companion. It is about the one who wants to love us when we aren't particularly intersted in being loved. It is about the one who is with us during great adventure and also those moments when we think we may have even gone a little too far. It is about the one who is with us at night, and the one who is always actively listening to us. I'd say this is a very spiritual little book for those who choose to read with an open mind and open heart.
