Mentoring young kids and serving as a role model has Fred really excited to return to his childhood camp, Little Moose, as a counselor. Naturally, when Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo arrive, the camp's just been shut down due to the appearance of the Woodsman, a ghostly figure who's straight out of camp folklore. A trio of kids shows up in spite of Little Moose's closure and Fred is in his glory serving as counselor, even though one of the kids keeps besting him, and the other two are less-than-enthusiastic campers. When two more legendary figures, the Fishman and the Specter of Shadow Canyon, begin haunting the camp, the gang finds itself with a full-blown mystery to solve. Rather than relying on the original series' propensity for repetitive chase scenes through halls with many doors and extensive sandwich-building capers, this 2010 original film features scarier monster chases and has a more current feel, thanks to details like one camper's obsession with connectivity and technology. Naturally, Shaggy and Scooby are still hot on the case of "What's for dinner?" As for the bikini-clad residents of a rival camp and Fred's superficial attraction to their good-looking counselor, it seems an unnecessary addition to a iScooby-Doo/i film. Bonus features include three spooky camp stories and a iScooby-Doo! Mysteries Incorporated/i episode, "Beware the Beast from Below," in which the gang solves a tasty Crystal Cove mystery in spite of the protestations of their families. (Ages 6 and older) i--Tami Horiuchi/i
